LIOCG project has started in Karagwe and Kyerwa

The Coffee partnership for Tanzania (CPT) is a partnership funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and aims to significantly increase the net incomes of 90.000 female and male small-scale Tanzanian coffee farmers through organizational development and improvement of production systems – leading to productivity increases, quality improvements, and better market linkages.

The program intends to implement organizational and business skills development, awareness on gender equity and Savings & Internal Lending Community Schemes (SILC) under coffee outgrowing programme in Karagwe and Kyerwa Districts, Kagera Region.
The main targets of the CPT Project is to achieve:
• Increasing the productivity of coffee production and product quality in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable way of 5,000 coffee farmers before August 2016;
• diversifying crop production and improving production of other agricultural products of a minimum 500 households before August 2016;
• facilitating access through the use of SILC;
• strengthening links of these coffee farmers to strong reliable markets.
